SSDC Class 2B Journey

Was having some mixed feelings trying to enrol for class 2B at SSDC, previously I tried to learn and get my licence from BBDC but in the end I drop out. Not that BBDC is bad or what but I felt it's not working out for me (motorcycle), I actually passed and get my class 3 license on first attempt thanks to the patient instructors but still...

Getting a motorcycle was a dream that I had when I was younger that's why for so long whenever I think about how I drop out and give up, it bugs me to no end. Kept trying to convince myself not to go for 2B since I already have a license to drive a car so why waste time. With so much thoughts and encouragements from Meow, I decided to go for it again.

This time I choose SSDC.
Why?
Firstly it was nearer to my workplace, secondly my best pal is still learning there so we could attend lesson together and lastly, maybe a new environment can help me learn better.

Trying to recorded as much as I can for what I have done or learn so far.

Enrolled myself on 29/12/14.
The enrolment fee is $74.90 which includes 4 basic theory lessons but I need to pay an additional $21.40 for 3 defensive riding theory lesson.
I was given a small training record booklet which I must bring for every lesson, it has some details and instructors will record your lessons and progress in it.
At BBDC I wasn't given any booklet so this is something new and interesting to me so it got me quite excited looking forward to lessons.
On 05/01/2015 and 09/01/2015 I completed all my theory lessons which can get a little bit boring but personally I would say, helpful and informative which BBDC failed to deliver for their theory lessons.
Just before a lesson end, the instructors will give us a slip of paper with 15 questions to try which helps us on our BTT and RTT. After attending the theory lessons I must book 2 theory practice and 1 trial test which I only did a few days later since I already passed my BTT previously when I got my class 3.

Heard some nasty things about SSDC regarding their helmets and elbow/knee guards so I went to get myself a personal helmet, in hope that it will motivates me.
So after attending my theory lessons I went down to HelmetBoys to buy own helmet.
When I got there I noticed they have a learner package which I brought since it seems reasonable :p
From SSDC you can just take bus 856 which brings you directly there.
I actually own a pair of gloves some I ask the friendly staff if I could exchange the gloves for something else which they gladly complied. They gave me a pair or arm socks and a multi head wear which is the same value.
On 13/01/15 I did 2 theory practice and 1 trial theory test for Riding theory which I scored 50/50, hopefully when the actual TP comes I can get the same result. And because I don't want to waste time and save my trips down to SSDC, I booked my circuit orientation on the same day.

Instructor was talking about how lessons will be conducted and where are the circuit...how to use the main stand blablaba...And he also showed us where the helmets are kept, which after I saw it for myself I actually self thanked myself for buying my own helmet :x

Theory Practice and Trial Test $6.42
Circuit Orientation  $25.68

So far what I have done for now.
All these are my own personal feel and thoughts about my current driving school, hope it's enough information for others who are interested to learn. (:

What is your progress now? I'm also a student at SSDC. Enrolled last April but ended up attending theories only recently, and booked BTT! Hope you go all the way till you get your 2B license this time! ;)

Hello Syahirah, thanks for the kind encouragement. Currently I have started attending lessons for my practical. Going to attend lesson 3 this coming Monday. Don't give up too!

Hey there glad to hear you got back on 2b. I was wondering whether the circuit orientation requires your full gear i.e glove, helmet, elbow and knee guard? It'll be great if you could answer this asap. :)

To Anonymous: Circuit Orientation doesn't require full gear. You are just there to know theory about the bikes, if there is time, the instructor will ask you guys to put the bike down from main stand and up again only.

Hey, hope you managed to obtain your 2b license. Any idea on what bike model they're using now?

To Safi: I'm not sure about that but for BBDC they are using Honda CB125F now.

hi sorry I know this is an outdated blog but where is the orientation held at and what are we suppose to do while waiting for the instructor

To mxhdpitri: Orientation is held at level 5. Basically is telling you about the bikes and stuff. And if there is ample time, they will teach you how to mount and unmount the bikes.

Hi, im stuck at outer circuit as i dont know how to changget my gear (higher to lower) smoothly. Different instructor teach different ways. My recent instructor told me to off trottle, break, hold break, clutch, change gear, let go trottle properly and then let go break. But when i hold on break the bike goes incredibly slow to turn unless i trottle a little which he dont want me to. So any tip. Spent so many times during prac 1 alreadyyyy 😫😩

Hi Mai,

I'm learning at SSDC too... I've completed all my lessons (took me about a year, with many repeated lessons) , so waiting to go for TP again (took twice already)

I believe you have graduated already with licence ?

To Ziq: Lesson 1.01? When I first started at BBDC the first lesson where they ask us to bang the tyres on the wall. Didn't repeat, only at mini circuit i repeated about 3 times? before progressing.
