Self Skidded

Before I go on about what happen, just want to provide some warning first as there might be come photos that can be quite uncomfortable for some. Please skip this post if you have problems looking at bloods and open flesh wounds.

In my time of riding since learning till now I have never fallen from my bike before. Unfortunately my luck seems to ran out and on 19th July, Tuesday Morning I've lost control of my scooter and self skidded on AYE before Lower Delta exit. Thankfully the vehicle behind kept a safe distance and didn't run me over and a nice couple who came and help me. Everything happen so fast, till now I couldn't explain what happen. I did not jam my brakes, but I remember gently pressing them like I usually does and the next thing I know I'm sliding on the ground already.

Again, I must stress to all riders please please wear at least long pants and covered shoes while riding. I have seen people riding with short pants and slippers, and I will pray for them that nothing happen. I'm glad that on the day of accident I'm wearing jeans and covered shoes, if not the extent of my injuries would be greater.

Another important thing is, please get a Personal Accident Insurance. You never know when and where it will happen. My scooter I only brought first party, fire and theft only, so I have to fork out for my own damages...

Anyway...Please don't scroll down any further.

I was sent to SGH via ambulance as my knees had a really deep cut which is around 4 cm deep. I was given 2 options on how to treat my wound. 1 was to go through general anesthesia to sew up my wound as the cut is so deep that the doctors worry that if they give me local anesthesia I might not be able to take it. I don't know whether did I go bonkers or what because inside my head all I can think of is that I have an upcoming exam on Saturday, I can't afford to stay in.

Told the doctor to go ahead with local anesthesia, if I can't take it then I will go with the GA.
Don't ask me why, I also don't know why I have the mood to keep taking photos and updating others on my progress. I can only say that I can feel every single stitches :(

I was discharge at around 5pm but I have to rush down to Traffic Police headquarters to make a police report and "redeem" my scooter. Unfortunately during my accident, the traffic police officer came very quickly and tow my scooter back.

Do you know, when you self skidded on the road is an offence?
$200 of fines and 8 demerit points!!!!
T^T
I really want to thank Steve and Violet for taking care of me throughout the whole day, some more it was Steve's birthday. Sorry for ruining it :x

So after taking my statements and stuff, I was told most likely I would be given a warning. Still waiting for my letter. Pray hard that nothing come!
The whole time my left leg was swollen and I have a great difficulty in walking. Lucky the swelling went down in time. Phew.
Do you know, among many things I'm very scared of removing stitches :(
Finally it's gone!

Would I go back riding again?
Definitely!

Followed your riding posts when I was doing my 2B. Passed in Dec 2015.

Sorry to read about your accident and glad that you escaped with not-so-major injuries. I too self-skidded along a quiet stretch of road in May 2016 and broke my collar-bone. Cost me a whopping $28,000 which thankfully, was covered by insurance (can read more about it on my blog (http://shahr33n.weebly.com/blog/accident-hospital-insurance) if you're want to know more).

I 100% agree that riders should don protective gear. I always wear my riding jacket, gloves and pants. Hence, I didn't suffer any abrasion or road rash in my accident. Anyway, wishing you speedy recovery!
